In the 4.0 industrial revolution, it cannot be denied that some matters require internet access. Touching on the call for coordination towards a 'Smart Nation' by Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Ahmad; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Info-communications also informed on the establishment of the Digital Economy Council and policy coordination that is currently being implemented by several ministries.

The Minister of Transport and Info-communications said in order to have internet access, we must have accessibility which requires services that are affordable. The minister informed that by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, a new council namely the Digital Economy Council has been established to replace any roles and efforts made by the Information Technology Council, or formerly known as the Brunei IT Council. With the establishment of the Digital Economy Council, coordination will be implemented at the national level and will play a specific role in pioneering policy directions on digital economy towards a Smart Nation.
