The Brunei Darussalam Anti-Corruption Bureau, BMR, has seized 7 Brunei Registered vehicles and detained 11 individuals for investigation involving in the smuggling syndicate of diesel fuel.

Six Malaysian and Five local were apprehended in a joint operation between Brunei Darussalam and the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM), 5th March, at two locations in Limbang, Sarawak, Malaysia and Kampung Limau Manis and Kuala Lurah areas, Brunei Darussalam.

The joint operation conducted to combat the smuggling syndicate and selling of diesel fuel from Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia, specifically around Limbang. The raid was carried out at two locations which were believed to be the place for concealment and storage of smuggled diesel fuel and do not possess a valid license to store the fuel.

About 57,800 litres were seized amounting 126 thousand and 4 Malaysian Ringgit including diesel fuel pum amounting 9 thousand and 6 hundred Malaysian Ringgit.

Investigation is still carrying out under the BMR and SPRM under the offence of Anti-Corruption Act (chapter 131) of Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, and offences under the written laws.
