As a support to the converts in enhancing their economic standard through the agricultural sector, the Islamic Da'wah Centre yesterday afternoon held a paddy harvesting activity, followed by a get-together with Converts in the Tutong District.

Joining the activity was Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The activity was held in a paddy field owned by Awang Mohd Abas bin Abdullah Aping and family in Jalan Bang Ligi, Kampung Bukit, Tutong. The involvement of the converts in the sector is also among the ways towards upholding the titah of His Majesty and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam that the agricultural sector should be an avenue for the survival of the race and nation.

The activity run concurrently with the presentation of Brunei Darussalam Rice (BDR) 5 paddy seedlings to Awang Mohd Abas.

The Islamic Da'wah Centre also contributed a paddy winnowing machine to the villagers. The activity is hoped to support the nation's effort towards realising Wawasan 2035 - to reach a dynamic and sustainable economy.
