The theme of the 35th Brunei Darussalam National Day Celebration “Menjayakan Wawasan Negara” or Making A success of the National Vision focuses on the achievement of Wawasan Brunei 2035 by emphasising on the importance of every citizen and resident as well as all sectors in nation development, play their respective roles by equipping themselves with knowledge and skills, ready to play a role in nation development including enhancing competitiveness, innovation and creativity in all aspects of economic, political, socio-culture and security development. Speaking at the media conference for the 35th Brunei Darussalam National Day celebration 2019, Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, also stressed on the involvement of the country’s citizens and residents to together be responsible in giving their highest commitment and assisting one another to uphold the country’s aspiration so that the nation’s goal to achieve Wawasan Brunei 2035 is implemented successfully.
To date 148 teams have registered for the parade, involving 24 thousand 295 participants. An estimated 7 thousand 500 participants will be involved in the field performance.
Datin Paduka Doktor Hajah Norlila urged the people to shoulder the responsibility of hoisting the national flags at homes, government and private buildings, firms and others and also to join the congregants at focus mosques, mosques and suraus nationwide, especially at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque for the mass Fardhu maghrib and Isya prayers as well as to seek supplications so that the country will always be blessed, safe and prosperous as well as protected from any disasters.
Also shared at the media conference was the National Spirit Cycling Recreation which will be held on Sunday, 24th of February 2019 at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, in the capital. Awang Zafri bin Haji Mohamed, Acting Director of Youth and Sports explained that the event which will start at 7 in the aims to form a sports culture and strengthening of unity through the holistic involvement of the society towards the establishment of healthy citizens.
The media conference ran concurrently with the prize presentation to the winner of the 35th National Day logo design winner, Awang Haji Md Abidin bin Haji Rashid, Special Grade Artist, Jabatan Adat Istiadat Negara.
