Construction of bridges, upgrading of roads and reducing the occurrence of floods with drainage system improvements and protection from river water overflow in the country are among the projects being carried out. The contract signing ceremony for the Public Works Department, Ministry of Development projects with three contractors took place yesterday afternoon.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, Minister of Development. The contracts signed were for the construction of the bridge at the junction of the Mentiri Main Road and Tanah Jambu Connecting Road costing almost 20 million dollars and will take 30 months to complete and the Upgrading of the Jalan Perindustrian Serasa towards the Pulau Muara Besar bridge costing more than 6 million dollars and to be completed in 16 months. The Tutong River Flood Embankment Repair Scheme - Flood Prevention at the Tutong River Downstream Project costs more than 12 million dollars, to be completed within 30 months and the Tutong River Flood Embankment Repair Scheme - Flood Prevention at the Tutong River Upstream Project costs seven million dollars and is to be completed in 30 months' time. Signing on behalf of the Public works Department was the Acting Director General, Dayang Alice Lim Sui Kau while for the 3 contractors were by their respective representatives.
