The MaulidurRasul Grand Assembly and Processions which were held simultaneously in the four districts yesterday morning saw the participation of over 25 thousand people, with many thousand others witnessing the gatherings that expressed the people's love and admiration for Prophet Muhammad SallallahuAlaihiWasallam. His Majesty Sultan Haji HassanalBolkiahMu'izzaddinWaddaulahibni Al-Marhum Sultan Omar 'Ali SaifuddienSa'adulKhairiWaddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, joined Brunei Darussalam's citizens and residents in the Brunei-Muara District at the national level of the auspicious occasion that took place at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital.

For decades, many generations have witnessed the commemoration of the great Prophet's birthday anniversary. For Brunei Darussalam, it is a tradition that symbolises the strong bond between the people and the Government. The unity surfaces at every MaulidirRasul celebration and conveys how the strong love for the Prophet continues to flourish in the country. His Majesty's presence at the celebrations strengthens the bond further.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by Yang BerhormatPehinUdanaKhatibDatoPaduka Seri SetiaUstaz Haji AwangBadaruddin bin PengarahDatoPaduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Executive Committee of Major Islamic events of 1440 Hijrah; Yang BerhormatDato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji MohdDaud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; Yang BerhormatPehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri UtamaDatoPaduka Seri SetiaAwang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syar'ie Judge and PengiranDato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs as well as Members of the celebration's Executive Committee.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brother, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-MuhtadeeBillah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel and His Royal Highness Prince Haji SufriBolkiah. The celebration began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang BerhormatPehinDatu Seri Maharaja DatoPaduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

In his welcoming address, the Minister of Religious Affairs highlighted the celebration's theme, "TarbiyahRasulullahMembawaRahmatDalamBerkeluarga," literally meaning "Lessons from the Messenger of Allah Bring Blessings to the Family."

As in previous years, His Majesty then received the junjungziarah from the leaders of teams taking part in the event. In the Brunei Muara District, more than 13 thousand from 126 teams representing Ministries, Departments, Educational Institutions, secondary schools and colleges, uniformed organisations, Mukim and Kampung Consultative Councils, Mosque Takmir Committees, the private sector, civil and non-governmental organisations, NGO's took part in the Grand Assembly and Procession.

In the titah in conjunction with Prophet Muhammad's (Shallallahu 'AlaihiWasallam) Birthday celebration this year, His Majesty highlights the country's great tradtion in celebrating the Auspicious Days of Islam, including the MaulidirRasul. His Majesty says the tradition which brings blessings should be continued and be further elevated if necessary. According to the Monarch, Muslims are encouraged to celebrate Islam's auspicious days in order to inject religious awareness which is essential to the survival of the ummah. His Majesty stresses that the religious way of life must never wither but always remain fresh and strong.

His Majesty also reminds the country's citizens and residents not to reject the lessons brought by the Messenger of Allah because rejecting them means rejecting Allah's blessings, while such rejection is akin to inviting disaster. His Majesty also emphasises that every Muslim is encourage to bring blessings into family life, community and the country because Allah's blessing is the source of happiness. Hence, the country's Muslims should truly understand and practise the teachings of the Prophet as a prerequisite towards reaping the blessings of Allah.

The DikirMarhaban performed by the Ministry of Education's Dikir Team was followed by 21 cannon fire. The Ministry of Education's Dikir Team also recited the SaiyidulIstighfar. Doaselamat was read by the State Mufti. The recital of Salawat was led by Yang BerhormatPehinDatu Imam DatoPaduka Seri SetiaUstaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

The 2.3 kilometre procession around Bandar Seri Begawan was led by His Majesty and members of the Royal Family. Brunei Darussalam which practises the concept of the Malay Islamic Monarchy or MIB is greatly fortunate to have a Monarch who places religious affairs or matters as top priorities.

Every 12th of Rabi'ulawal on the Muslim calendar, Brunei Darussalam celebrates the MaulidurRasul to express love and admiration for the Messenger of Allah. The celebration has specific meanings and benefits which include the propagation of Islam's eminence as well as understanding of the teachings brought by the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu 'AlaihiWasallam).

Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'AlaihiWasallam is regarded as the greatest blessing for the universe and its contents. The blessing or enlightenment shines from within the Prophet to be followed by the ummah, including in family life. The personality of the Prophet and his conduct towards his wives and children and the love of the wives or UmmahatulMukminin for Allah's Messenger should be emulated because they are great examples to follow in family life during these challenging times.

In the effort to produce a devout generation for national survival and the development of religion, ummah and nation regardless of their race or status, the teachings of the Prophet should be followed in order to gain good and true success in life. Emulating the Messenger of Allah's character and way of life will help to develop good morals and admirable character in building a family that is perfect in the world and in the afterlife.

The MaulidurRasul is also a catalyst of the teachings of Islam which has proven to bring blessings to the country, especially the Monarchy which has ruled with justice and united the people who are both Muslims and non-Muslims.
