The giving of alms is a noble practise and is encouraged in Islam. Apart from alleviating the burden of the less fortunate, the practise of alms giving can also further strengthen relations amongst Muslims, especially during gatherings to celebrate major Islamic events such as the MaulidurRasul celebration.

Early yesterday morning, at a number of roads in Bandar Seri Begawan, a number of the community provided food and drinks as a way of giving alms to the public and teams participating in the MaulidurRasul procession. The food and drinks distributed before and after the procession, are hoped to provide for the well-being of the participants during the procession. A number of private companies including restaurants in the country also took the initiative to serve breakfast and food after the procession for the MaulidurRasul Celebration concluded.
