The Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain have signed an Air Services Agreement yesterday in Bahrain.

Signing on behalf of His Majesty's government was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Communications. Meanwhile, signing on behalf of behalf of the Government of Kingdom of Bahrain was His Excellency Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Kingdom of Bahrain. Earlier, both Ministers discussed on matters pertaining to the transportation sector specifically air services. This included opportunities to further enhance cooperation and partnership in air services between both countries as well as exchanged views on best practices within the aviation sector.

Also present was Dayang Hajah Nor Huda binti Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Ahmad, Charge d'Affaires of Brunei Darussalam to Bahrain. The signing ceremony is a development in the bilateral ties between both countries. With this revised agreement, it improves the traffic rights between both countries, and will open up more avenues of cooperation between the designated airlines and destination points of both countries.

Yang Berhormat also attended the 5th Bahrain International Air Show held at the Sakhir Air Base, Bahrain that was officiated by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain International Air Show Committee and Personal Representative of His Majesty the King of Bahrain. After the opening ceremony, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted a Royal Lunch that was attended by the Minister of Communications.
