40 Active Clusters, 2 New Clusters Detected

Brunei Darussalam total COVID-19 cases rose to 1,983 as 110 new cases were reported.

 

At present, there are 40 active clusters including two new clusters which are the 1597 Cluster with 10 cases and the 1640 Cluster with 6 cases. There are an additional 53 new cases to the currently active clusters which brings the total number of cases in all the active clusters to 1,198.

 

In addition, there are 3 import cases recorded: 2 cases arrived in the country from Kuala Lumpur on the 11th of August 2021 on-board flight Royal Brunei BI874. Meanwhile, 1 case arrived in the country from Manila on the 11th of August 2021 on board flight Royal Brunei BI684.

 

Meanwhile, there are 46 cases where the source of infection is still being determined. The cases in the active clusters are individuals who are currently being quarantined and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases. Contact tracing for all these new cases is currently undergoing. All identified close contacts are required to undergo mandatory quarantine and RT-PCR SARS-Co-V-2 test.

 

32 cases have recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 468. This means 1,508 active cases have been recorded in the country. Among the active cases, 4 cases are in critical condition, where 3 cases require ventilators and 1 case requires the help of an additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. Meanwhile, 27 cases have been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 4,349 samples have been tested for the SARS-Co-V-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 209,272 tests.
