42 members of the Buhur Association Cooperative Berhad (KSPB) of Kampung Jerudong yesterday morning took a look at enterprises conducted by several Village Consultative Councils in Temburong District.
The delegation first toured Kampung Lepong Baru Long House in Mukim Bokok that produces handicraft products produced by the village's Consultative Council. The group also witnessed demonstrations of parang making as well as the making of local traditional food called Kuih Jala by members of the council.
The processing of ambulong or sago powder at Kampung Batu Apoi also attracted the visitors. The Kampung Batu Apoi Consultative Council also supplies 'ambulong' to the villagers as part of initiatives by Small and Medium Enterprises to improve the economy of the area's residents.
Awang Haji Arifpen bin Abas, Buhur Association Cooperative Officer in an interview with RTB said youths should grab the opportunities to conduct economic activities.
The visit was an activity of the Buhur Association Cooperative to help its members gain more knowledge and experience through visits which enable them to have a closer look at the activities of Village Consultative Councils in the country.
