The National Day Grand Assembly is a manifestation of the pride and patriotism of every citizen and resident and their love for the Monarch and the nation. According to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports the celebration symbolises the sincere and noble struggle of the people towards realising an independent and visionary nation. Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin shared this during the first meeting of the 35th National Day Celebration Executive Committee. Highlighting the theme, “Menjayakan Wawasan Negara”, or Accomplishing the National Vision, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also emphasised that the format of the celebration should continue to uphold and be based on the values of the Malay Islamic Monarchy, MIB philosophy and will never discard the core Bruneian values which have been inherited for so long.

During the meeting, Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan said, considering that next year’s National Day celebration is the 35th, it should be slightly different and present an atmosphere of patriotism. There should be a comprehensive or holistic involvement which will make the country’s people continue to remember and talk about it in later years. The agenda of the meeting included the National Day Logo Designing Competiton, the National Day Grand Assembly, Doa Kesyukuran, 35 Time Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony and other important matters. Also attending the meeting were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana, Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Grand Chamberlain; Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr. Haji Awang Mohd. Jamil Al-Sufri bin Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Umar, the Principal of the Brunei History Centre, Deputy Ministers, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Permanent Secretaries.
