Following the dynamic environment and changes are important in this modern digital and technology era. Permanent Secretary for International at the Prime Minister’s Office underlined the matter at the 28th Technical Committee Meeting on Cooperation in Broadcasting and Information between the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Commander of the Republic of Singapore. On the uncontrollable spread of fake news and information, Pengiran Datin Shazainah Binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Shariffuddin said it can affect the well-being, security and social solidarity within the society and at the same time can create negative impact in the long run. The meeting was launched yesterday afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office building.

Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore, according to Pengiran Datin Shazainah, are able to further closely collaborate through experiences shared and gained in Broadcasting and Information fields. Pengiran Datin Shazainah hoped that the involved agencies will continue to review the efficacy and the effects of production programmes that gives maximum benefits and further strengthen cooperative ties between both countries.

Meanwhile, His Excellency Gabriel Lim, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Information, Republic of Singapore in his return speech said that although both countries are small in size, close cooperation will be able to foster closer ties between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore in facing new challenges such as fake news.

The meeting discussed several matters on direction, projects and activities that have been implemented together in broadcasting and information by the involved agencies such as Department of Radio Television Brunei and Information Department, Ministry of Communications and Information, Republic of Singapore; Info-Communications Development Authority of Singapore as well as MediaCorp Pte. Ltd. Also present were Awang Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, Director of Radio Television Brunei and Awang Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad, Acting Information Director.
