The Islamic History Education National Seminar 2018, organised by the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Usuluddin, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB and Brunei History Centre, aims to strengthen the society’s identity based on the past achievements and events in Islamic history. Yesterday morning, several working papers were presented which explained on the backgrounds of Islamic history and the effective approaches as well as pedagogies in Islamic History Education teaching at higher education institutions in the country. The seminar was held at Dewan Tarbiyyah, KUPU SB.
The working paper titled ‘The Background of Islamic History and the Efficacy of Islamic History Teachings at Secondary Schools in Brunei Darussalam’ among other matters provided understanding pertaining to history as well as the origin of the nation in shaping the country’s civilisation, and make lessons from past as guidelines for any events, be it positive or negative events. The working paper was presented by Doctor Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Acting Ra’es of KUPU SB. Meanwhile, the working paper titled ‘The Concept of History in Al-Quran’ was presented by Doctor Mikdar Rusdi, Dean of the Faculty of Usuluddin, KUPU SB, which touched on pronunciations that are often connected to history and stories in Al-Quran, as well as the values of learning from history.
