Participants of the Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme are urged to show that they are the Brunei Darussalam representatives who are truly excellence, highly intellectual, nobly behaviour, mutually respectful each other and at the same time maintain religious values, custom and culture based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy Concept. Speaking to the participants of the 45th Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme, SSEAYP during the National Flag Presentation Ceremony to the country's contingent yesterday afternoon, Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stressed that Brunei Darussalam places a high hope on the participants to always look after their behaviour and the country's good name especially while making a stop at other countries. The ceremony was held at Bilik Hijau, Hassanal Bolkiah national Stadium in Berakas.
Yang Berhormat in his speech also highlighted on three important things. Firstly, he advised the participants to foster friendly relations with other participants of various races and countries. Secondly, the participants need to make use the opportunity to study from each other, exchange views and ideas with the objective to gain knowledge in order to build highly calibre characteristics and thirdly, the most important thing is that the participants need to show our true custom and share its beauty asides from promoting and introducing Brunei to the other SSEYAP participants. In line with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's aspiration to produce excellent youths, as such Yang Berhormat called on the participants to make use the experience and learning for the good of the country.
His Excellency Motohiko Kato, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam in his speech said that SSEAYP programme has produced more than one thousand Brunei alumni who in their role to strengthen relations between Japan and Brunei Darussalam. His Excellency also presented the flight tickets to the head of contingent.
Brunei Darussalam is sending a contingent of 28 youths and a head of contingent. This year's programme is participated by 3 hundred and 30 youths from 11 countries. The National flag was handed over to Awang Haji Muhammad Iqbal Fakhri bin Haji Damit, Head Contingent of Brunei Darussalam. The 52-day SSEAYP 2018 programme which begins on the 23rd of October until the 13th of December, departs from Tokyo, Japan and will stop at several countries namely Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, before returning to Tokyo.
