Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD, has received the Outstanding International Collaboration Award (OICA) from the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM) in conjunction with Global Islamic Finance Forum 2018 (GIFF2018) in Malaysia. BIBD was one of four financial institutions being recognised for their investment in their talent development, highlighting BIBD's excellent efforts in developing Islamic finance capabilities.

The bank began investing in the area in 2011, and to date, almost 60 Islamic Financial Planners have achieved certification, enabling them to offer highly proficient and informed consultation services to its consumers. According to Dayang Hjh Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman, the Deputy Managing Director, much efforts is put to develop opportunities and capabilities for the human capital, particularly in Islamic Finance, in line with Brunei's Vision 2035. She added, the certifications equip employees with market tools that continuously improve the customer experience. Meanwhile, IBFIM Chief Executive Officer, Yusry Yusoff, said BIBD is focus in up skilling professionals, strengthens competitive positioning as such investments that lead to invaluable returns.
