The community in the country especially the youth should realise their role as national assets in facing challenges and issues related to poverty which can affect the country's socio-economic development. The matter was highlighted in a special forum in conjunction with the New Year of Hijrah at the Main Lecture Hall of the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences.
The function was attended by Datin Doctor Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The special forum titled, "Peluang dan Cabaran membasmi kemiskinan: Apa peranan belia" also discussed understanding of the National Development agenda and the role of youths in helping to eradicate poverty. The session involved two panellists, Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahhuddin, the Founder of the Bina Ukhwah Project and Farizal bin Ali, Assistant Counsellor of the Prisons Department. The forum was organised by the Religious Committee of the Student Affairs Section and UBD Students' Association.
