More than 260 pupils from 14 religious schools from the Brunei Satu area attended a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, which was part of the activities of the 'One Week, One Juzuk' Programme. The programme was introduced in response to His Majesty's aspiration for Brunei Darussalam to prioritise religious education, especially the Al-Quran subject at an early stage.

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Awang Salminan bin Haji Burut, Permanent Secretary for Municipal and District at the Ministry of Home Affairs, marked the start of the ceremony which took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. 128 male and 137 female pupils from pre-school up to primary 5 were celebrated after completing the reading of 30 Juzuk of Al-Quran. The ceremony was one of the schools' annual activities and aimed to strengthen cooperation and unity among the teaching staff, parents, guardians and pupils.
