A company involved in construction activities in Pulau Muara Besar was issued with compound fines yesterday by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, JASTRE.
Nanjing Chemical Construction CO. (B) Limited Company was fined 5 hundred dollars for dumping construction wastes and scrap metal at an area not intended for disposal. The company has been given 7 days to settle the fine and in default, the company can be brought before the court. If found guilty, the company can be fined 1 thousand dollars for the first offence and for the second offence, the company can be fined 3 thousand dollars and imprisonment of not more than three months. In this regard, individuals, members of the public or companies are reminded to maintain cleanliness and to be responsible in ensuring the environment’s cleanliness.
