The Tutongku Ceria Programme and the National Family Day Tutong District level in conjunction with the Karnival Lakanon Tutong enlivened the Tutong town yesterday. It was filled with various recreation activities involving all level of ages. Among the activities held were aerobics, brisk walk and Family Day sports events.

At the Tutong River Jetty, an aerobics session was held. Among those participating in the event were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, memebers of the Legislative Council, Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer, Awang Haji Azmi bin Haji Abdul Rahim, Chairman of the Tutong Municipal Board and Awang Muhammad Amir bin Haji Umarali, member of the Tutong Municipal Board in his capacity as the Co-chairman of the Karnival Lakanon Tutong.

A 13-kilometres cycling event followed. It began and ended at the Tutong Town Jetty. The cycling event was flagged off by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, member of the Legislative Council. The cycling event was jointly organised by the Tutong Volunteer Cycling Expedition, BEST. Meanwhile, the brisk walk activity was held at the Bukit Bendera track.

At the Tutong Gerai Selera, various activities with the concept of family sports events were conducted by the Kampung Penabai Tutong Consultative Council. Such an acitvity is hoped to instil closer ties within the family apart from promoting a healthy lifestyle. Participating in the activities encourages the parents to spend quality time with their family members not only during special occasions, but also during normal days.

The highlight of the Karnival Lakanon Tutong was the 'Menumpah Ambuyat Semukim' and eating competition. The event was participated by 8 mukims in the district. Also held was cooking competition as well as cooking workshop and demonstration.

The carnival themed 'Marilah Makan Bersama Keluarga', aimed to stimulate economic growth through organising various community and economic-based activities for the development of Tutong Town, and to raise the people's socio-economy.
