Royal Brunei Airlines, RB's evolution of its brand, and the transformation of its operations, is parallel to Darussalam Assets' vision to institute and inspire excellence within the portfolio of Government-Linked Companies, GLCs it oversees. The Second Minister of Finance and Economy as the Chairman of the RB Board of Directors made the speech at the official launch of its Airbus A-320neo fleet. The launch of the new fleet which plays a vital role in maintaining and improving RB operational reliability, took place last night at Hangar 3, Brunei International Airport.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Hj Mohd Amin Liew Bin Abdullah said, as a shareholder, Darussalam Assets endeavours to build a sustainable foundation to spur economic vitality in harmony with nation-building objectives. Part of Darussalam Assets' mission is to make sure that the GLCs are equipped with what they need to be able to reach maximum potential to ensure optimal performance. This is part and parcel of having strong corporate governance and best practices. Yang Berhormat Dato added RB's journey is an important milestone to highlight and celebrate.

The launch of RB's Airbus A-320neo fleet was jointly officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; Second Minister of Finance and Economy AND Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Communications. Also present were Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abd Rahman and Doctor Awang Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Deputy Ministers of Finance and Economy as well as Yang Berhormat Haji Abd Hamid@ Haji Sabli bin Haji Arshad, member of the Legislative Council.

The introduction of the Airbus A320NEO aircraft is the remaining part of RB's fleet modernisation program and opens up a new phase to pursue further regional growth. By November, RB's fleet will have seven Airbus A320neo, making RB having one of the youngest fleet in the World with an average fleet age of two years.

The event also saw the launching of the RB Destination Marketing Strategy and campaign. RB in close collaboration with Brunei Tourism has created a marketing campaign to showcase what Brunei Darussalam can offer. In this age of hyper connectivity, the holistic experience of both digital and physical touch points are vital to the sustainability of transforming Brunei into a tourism destination.
