All homestay operators should be equipped with the Brunei Darussalam Homestay Tourist Accommodation Standard, PBD 31:2016 as a guideline in organising their respective homestay. Currently, the standard is applied in the Tourism Premise Registration process at the Department of Tourism Development for all homestay owners in Brunei Darussalam, in line with the stipulated regulations of Tourism Act 2016. Apart from that, the standard was issued aimed to ensure that the offered facilities by homestay operators such as bed room, toilet, foods and activities are of quality and according to the set standard.
These was among explained in the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Roadshow through the Development of Tourism Development for Homestay Operators in the Belait District.
The Roadshow briefing was delivered by officers from the Department of Tourism Development and National Standard Centre, Ministry of Energy (Energy and Manpower) and Industry. The roadshow was attended by heads of mukim, Village Chiefs and representatives from the kampong Consultative Council in the Belait District.
During the roadshow, the Department of Tourism Development also urged to all unregistered accommodation premises and homestay to make registration at the Department of Tourism Development, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism building during working days.
