The Sultan's Scholar scholarship of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah are conferred to outstanding students in academic and extra co-curricular activities identified by the Yayasan, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs. Through this prestigious scholarship, recipients are able to pursue their studies from Bachelor degree to higher education in various field at prestigious overseas higher education institutions approved by the Yayasan and the Government of His Majesty. The Signing Agreement ceremony and Doa Selamat for the Yayasan Sultan's Scholar scholarship recipients for 2018/2019 was held yesterday afternoon at the Yayasan Building Complex in the capital.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, the Second Minister of Defence as the Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors. Awang Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Isa, from the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School who will study Arabic Language at the Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

Dayang Hajah Hafizah binti Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Nor will pursue a Master's degree in Architecture, the Royal Institute of British Architects - RIBA at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in the United Kingdom. Dayang Hajah Hafizah was first awarded the Yayasan Sultan's Scholar Scholarship in 2013 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Second Class Upper in Architecture at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

Awang Muhammad Nasruddin bin Haji Sulaiman had received the Yayasan Sultan's Scholar scholarship in 2014 and achieved the First Class (Hons) MChem in Chemistry at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and will further his studies for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry Research at the Imperial College London in the United Kingdom. Signing on behalf of the Yayasan were Dato Paduka Awang Eddie bin Dato Paduka Haji Sunny, the Managing Director of the Yayasan and Dayang Hajah Donnaliza binti Abdullah Puasa, the Assistant Managing Director of the Yayasan.

In the ceremony, two Sultan's Scholar Scholarship recipients received incentives from the Yayasan. The recipients, Awang Muhammad Nasruddin bin Haji Sulaiman and Dayang Rasyiqah Azimah binti Muhammad Nuraiziz who achieved excellence in their studies with First Class Honours Degrees.
