With the objective to protect and maintain the heritage cultural arts, in line with developments in science and technology, the Co-curriculum Education Department organised the 39th Hadrah Competition for Secondary Schools and Colleges Nationwide. The final of the competition was held yesterday morning at Awang Semaun Secondary School.

5 schools took part in the competition, which among other matters aimed to hone the talents and skills of the students in hadrah beating and originality. The competition was assessed from the aspects of hadrah beats, song and voice, lyrics and originality, discipline and attire.

Prizes were presented by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohaimin bin Haji Johari alias Jahari, member of the Legislative Council. Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School in Mentiri emerged champion; followed by Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Secondary School, Serasa in second place and Awang Semaun Secondary School in third. The competition was organised by Awang Semaun Secondary School.
