Awang Mohammad Hamiz Mirza bin Haji Sudiman from Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School and Dayang Nur Tajwiida Insyirah Binti Haji Isa from Sayyidina Hassan Secondary School were crowned as champions of the Tilawah Al-Quran for Secondary Schools and Colleges Nationwide. The final round of the competition was held yesterday morning at the Sayyidina Umar Al-Khatab Secondary School. The competition was organised by the Co-curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education.

In attendance was Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Acting Minister of Religious Affairs. Awang Mohammad Hamiz Mirza placed first in the boy's category after beating four other competitors.

Meanwhile, Dayang NurTajwiida Insyirah beat two other opponents to take first place in the girl's category. The competition aimed to improve the participant's Al-Quran reading quality, apart from acting as early preparation to polish their skills to a higher level.

Prizes and certificates were presented by the Acting Minister of Religious Affairs. Awang Muhd Syahmi bin Muhd Aref Affendy from Berakas Secondary School and Awang Md Hemi Fahziq bin Hoseni from Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School took second and third place respective in the boys category. Meanwhile, Dayang Nur Fatin Hidayah binti Morsidi from Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College and Dayang Nur Amal Nadhirah binti Mohd Nurazizul from Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri placed second and third respectively in the girls category.
