Food safety and quality are vital towards increasing local food market opportunities as well as competitive products to be marketed locally and overseas. The implementation of the Good Manufacturing Practices, GMP, will enhance consumer confidence towards the food products produced. This morning, the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood held a workshop for the programme.
More than 30 participants took part in the workshop. During the workshop, participants were briefed by officers from the Agrifood Industry Division, Department of Agriculture and Agrifood on the need for good manufacturing practices and good cleanliness practices. The workshop aimed to raise the awareness of food manufacturers on the responsibility of ensuring food products manufactured are always safe and of good quality. Every food entrepreneur must have the knowledge and skills in relation to food production such as infrastructure, equipment, raw materials, processing and cleaning.
