Innovation and knowledge-based economy always comes with the element of willingness to try, to apply oneself without embarrassment, the social acceptance of failures, the ability to continually adapt and not giving up. With the proper incentive policies and positive encouragement, the capacity and capability to manage the risks must not become a hindrance to unleashing the power of the ideas, creative energies and initiative to further mobilise the grassroots society and the local businesses. This was stated by the Minister of Development at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, IET Brunei Darussalam Local Network 20th Anniversary celebration at Radisson Hotel in the capital last night.
At this function, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia ‘Engineer’ Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar urged the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Community or STEM to be affiliated and be more involved with professional societies. Since its establishment, IET has conducted several activities for its members and the public such as technical visits, talks, training, international conference and symposium. Also present were ‘Architect’ Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Minister of Development, and Yang Berhormat ‘Architect’ Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, Member of the Legislative Council.
