Residents of Kampong Tanjong Bunut and its surroundings now has a new mosque. The cleansing ceremony for the new Kampong Tanjong Bunut Mosque was held yesterday afternoon. The mosque was constructed on a 1 point 4-8 acre plot of endowed land, costing about 3 million 5 hundred and 60 thousand dollars allocated from the Brunei Darussalam Mosque Construction Fund.
Leading the cleansing ceremony was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs as a member of the committee for the collection and allocation of the Brunei Darussalam Mosque Construction Fund. Also present were Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Religion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Abdullah bin Haji Halus, Penghulu of Mukim Kilanas as the Acting Village Chief of Kampong Tanjong Bunut. The mosque can accommodate one thousand 2 hundred and 60 congregants.
