University Brunei Darussalam, UBD, is an intellectual-based platform which prepares students for life-long learning. UBD graduates need to stay relevant and must learn to adapt to new challenges. Datin Doctor Dayang Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor of UBD, made the remarks at the launch of the university's Orientation Week for the August 2018 Intake.

According Datin Doctor Hajah Anita, the GenNext program is a broad and deep reaching module in that it gives students the flexibility in choosing the programs or courses. This will allow them to gain experience based on their chosen interest, and at the same time, enable them to chart their future career. The Vice Chancellor said that another special feature of the GenNext is the Discovery Year which enables them to gain hands-on experience and knowledge.

The August 2018 Intake has accepted 932 students. The Orientation Week exposes the new students to various programs, including co-curricular activities. Their involvement in the schedules can build their skills for their future undertakings.
