The Department of Councils of State this morning received a courtesy call from the Australian Parliament delegation.
The delegation led by Mr Rowan Ramsey Mp, Member of Parliament of Australia made the courtesy call to Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Dato Setia Haji Mohammed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council. The courtesy call aimed to further strengthen bilateral relations between the Councils of State and the Australian Parliament in exchanging ideas as well as the opportunity to study matters that can be made as best practices. The Australian Parliament delegation stated that they greatly appreciate the reception given and hoped to further strengthen existing relations.
After the courtesy call, a bilateral meeting was held. The meeting was led by Yang Berhormat Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Lela Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman, Member of the Legislative Council. The Legislative Council and members of the Australian Parliament discussed various issues of mutual interest as well as ways to further strengthen relations between the two countries. Also present was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary of the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to The Legislative Council. The function took place at the Dewan Majlis Building, Department of Councils of State.
