Delivering khutbah or sermon is a special work that has its own art. It requires a special technique and method as the Khatibs has its own target which is the congregants. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti highlighted these matter during the Opening Ceremony for an Intensive Khutbah or Sermon reading and Refining Prayer Course, yesterday morning.
Yang Berhormat Pehin stressed that Khatib must understand the overall content of the sermon, able to properly pronounce each word in the sermon and understand its meaning. Khatib are also reminded to deliver each word clearly and not in haste.
In matters related to refining prayer, Yang Berhormat Pehin explained that refining means to look or review for the purpose of improvement. This method is important as Imams or prayer leaders are an example that carry the status of a leader.
Doctor Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Acting Ra'es of the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB, in his speech said that such intensive course are basic guideline in Malay Islamic Monarchy way of life and the constitution of the country.
Over 400 participants comprising imams nationwide, religious school headmasters and KUPU SB students attended the course. Also in attendance were Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Japar Bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Deputy State Mufti; Awang Haji Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Mohd Serudin Bin Haji Timbang, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Policy and Religion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
