It becomes apparent and crystal clear on special occasions such as the Hari Raya AidilFitri Audience and JunjungZiarah with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Darussalam, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and members of the Royal Family at Istana NurulIman.
The second day the Istana was opened to the public continued to be joyful and lively as thousands of well-wishers arrived as early as seven in the morning. 54 buses were provided to fulfil the visitors wish to share the AidilFitri happiness with the Monarch and the Royal Family.
Istana NurulIman is open for 3 days to give the public the golden opportunity of wishing "SelamatHari Raya Aidilfitri to His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri as well as the Royal Family.
On the management side, the registrations were carried out smoothly and orderly by the Istana NurulImanHari Raya AidilFitri Registration Committee. For the well-wishers, the visit to Istana NurulIman was deeply significant, regardless if they were Bruneians or foreigners.
Before the JunjungZiarah, His Majesty's guests were served with a variety of Hari Raya delicacies and drinks which they enjoyed in comfort and security as they interacted with other visitors.
The visitors, including those from far away countries and especially the first time visitors shared the enjoyment and pleasure of being the guests of the Istana.
The opportunity to convey Hari Raya AidilFitri greetings to His Majesty were grabbed by nearly 80 youth and children from the LambakKiri Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme Mosque. They said celebrating Hari Raya AidilFitri at Istana NurulIman was an experience they would always cherish and never forget.
The country's citizens and residents as well as foreigners on holiday in the country also did not want to miss the golden opportunity.
While waiting for the JunjungZiarah, the well-wishers sat in the waiting area as they listened to Hari Raya songs. As usual, during the three days Istana Nurul is opened to the public, people from all walks of life and age groups, including young children come to the Istana, full of happiness, cheer and excitement to spend Hari Raya AidilFitri with His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and members of the Royal Family in a cordial and harmonious atmosphere.
The visitors, regardless of race or age lined-up for the JunjungZiarah and convey Hari Raya greetings to His Majesty, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and the Royal Family. During the very busy occasion, Security officers and personnel were on hand to ensure safety and security.
The residents of Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts also visited the Istana yesterday. Their presence were evidence of the people's love and loyalty towards the Monarch. For the people, being with His Majesty is both special and meaningful.
Several civil servants and uniformed organisations' personnel said sharing Hari Raya AidilFitri with His Majesty and the Royal Family at Istana NurulIman is a must. Opening the Istana to the general public reflects His Majesty's personality as the loving and beloved Monarch who is close to the people's hearts and to whom the people is always close to heart.
The unique tradition of the JunjungZiarah is praised not only by the local community but also by people from abroad. They are impressed by the beauty of the Bruneian culture, especially the way Hari Raya is celebrated in the country.
For the well-wishers, the opportunity to shake hands and meet face to face with His Majesty and the Royal Family, as well as seeing the beautiful Hari Raya celebration at Istana NurulIman will become a beautiful memory. This is especially as all the visitors leave the Istana with souvenirs, while children leave with Hari Raya packets.
