More than three thousand youths took part in the 7th Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony yesterday morning. The ceremony which was held separately was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports with the cooperation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Education. The Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony for male youths was held at the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampung Kiarong. His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah attended the ceremony.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yusof, the Second Minister of Defence, as the Acting Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin HAJI Sulaiman, Minister of Education and Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of surah Al-Fatihah led by Awang Haji Muhd. Fikri bin Haji Awang Metussin, Champion of the National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran for Adults 2018. The reading of Khatam Al-Quran from Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah Al-Massad was led by Muhammad Farhan bin Alim, a student of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute
The Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony invloved more than Two Thousand male youths from various government and private agencies, youth associations, students, former youth programme participants and individuals. Tahtim was read by the Dikir Group of the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA.
Doa Khatam was then read by Awang Abdul Haziq Syarafuddin bin Abdul Habib, a student of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute. The ceremony was enlivened with Dikir Marhaban by the UNISSA's Dikir Group. The Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was read by Awang Haji Muhd. Fikri.
Organising such ceremony is hoped to increase youth participation in religious activities which act as a fortress for the youth generation to face the future challenges. His Royal Highness then joined the youth to perform the mass Fardu Zohor prayer.
Prior to leaving the ceremony, His Royal Highness received the junjung ziarah. The gathering among other matters aimed to glorify the month of Ramadhan with beneficial activities especially with the reading of Al-Quran, apart from encouraging the youth to participate in religious activity.
