The Straits Digital Exchange was officially opened yesterday in conjunction with the Smart Nation Innovations Week that is currently being held in Singapore until today. The 2-day event gather Ministers, senior policy makers and industry leaders from world-renowned companies to discuss key trends and developments in the digital economy.
Attending the event is Yang Berhormat Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Communications, and other officials from the Ministry of Communications.
With the theme 'Accelerating the Digital Economy: Data and Digital Trade', the exchange revolved around the discussion on key relevant components and ecosystems required to propel the digital economy. This includes roles taken by key stakeholders in reducing the gap between the digital 'haves' and 'have-mores', and the role of the public-private partnership in addressing future issues, as well as the future potential of data and its possible challenges.
During the exchange, the ASEAN Ministers responsible for Information and Communications Technology also met in a closed door session to discuss the way forward in addressing the fast growing importance of data and issues pertaining to it and concluded with a set of recommendations in implementing an ASEAN Framework on Digital Data Governance.
The Ministry of Communications Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Communications and Information Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Field of Info-communications Media, ICM, yesterday. The MOU reaffirms the close collaboration between both Ministries whereby cooperation includes the sharing of experience and knowledge on ICM matters.
Signing on behalf of the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was the Minister of Communications, while The Honourable S.Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information, Singapore, signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Singapore. The signing took place at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Also present was His Excellency, Haji Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Mansor, Brunei High Commissioner to Singapore.
This was followed by the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Postal Services Department, Ministry of Communications Brunei Darussalam and Singapore Post Limited at the SingPost Headquarters.
