The Tutong Senior Citizens Activity Centre this morning held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony to mark the end of the reading of 30 juzuk or chapters of Al-Quran in the month of Ramadhan. The ceremony was held at the centre in Tutong town.
The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Awang Roslan bin Haji Tajaah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. 87 senior citizens from the district took part in the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony. The ceremony, held for the first time with the cooperation of the Community Development Department, JAPEM's Tutong District branch, aimed to reap the promised rewards in Ramadhan and inculcate the culture of Al-Quran reading among its members. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Members of the Legislative Council.
