31 drivers from 28 transportation companies were issued compounds ranging from 50 to 150 dollars for a number of offences during 'Operasi Bergerak' conducted by the Land Transport Department last month at several roads in the country.

According to the Land Transport Department, the offences found were overloading and driving vehicles with bald tyres. There were several offences that also carry the SiKAP demerit points.

On the 21st of May, 4 drivers from Tienteng Fowarding, Syarikat Hj Zaini Hj Md Zain, Bayu Ilham Motor Sdn Bhd, and Swee Sendirian Berhad, were issued compounds from 50 to one hundred dollars for overloading.

Meanwhile on the 22nd of May, 7 drivers from Awinco Sdn Bhd, Athir Transport Company, Hock Hin Trading Company, Syarikat Koperasi Tasamul, Syarikat TKF Maxiwood Furniture and Contractor Sdn Bhd, Rison General Supplier Sendirian Berhad, and Q-stone Sendirian Berhad were issued 50-dollar compounds for overloading.

On the 23rd of May, another 7 drivers from Union Energy Sendirian Berhad, Fian Trading Company, Low San Hardware, Swee Sendirian Berhad, Boon Kiat Bensaw Contractors, and Q-stone Sendirian Berhad, were issued compounds from 50 to one hundred dollars for violating road regulations, namely overloading and driving unsafe vehicles.

Whereas on the 24th of May, 9 drivers from Foundation Contractor and Engineering Sdn Bhd, Salsadil Sdn Bhd, Tiong Jaya Furniture, Syarikat KBA Sdn Bhd, Decobrit Sdn Bhd, Nas Concrate Sendirian Berhad, Seegood Company, and Perkhidmatan Pengangkutan Lakujaya, were also issued 50-dollars compounds for the same offences.

And on the 26th of May, 3 drivers from Malawaring Enterprise, Majid Khan Enterprise, and Attic Decoration Company were handed compounds between 50 to one hundred dollars for the same offences. The Land Transport Department advises transportation company owners, specifically drivers to drive carefully and ensure that the vehicles are safe before making a trip. In an effort to raise awareness and knowledge among foreign drivers, the Land Transport Department is currently reviewing and will introduce rules and regulations for endorsing original driving licence to Brunei Darussalam driving licence for foreign drivers in the country.
