Ramadhan is a month of mercy and tolerance, of which the followers are advocated to double their religious deeds. A Khatam Al-Quran was held for 636 officers and religious teachers from the government primary and secondary as well as the private schools, and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education.
The recitation of the Fatihah Verse was led by Dayang Hajijah binti Haji Moktal, the Acting Director of Islamic Studies. The mass Khatam was an annual program of the Islamic Studies Department's IRK Section towards supporting the teachers to read the Holy Verses as a daily practice, apart from forging closer ties among the participants. It also glorifies Ramadhan by conducting the "sunat" or commendable rituals.
