The arrival of the holy month of Ramadhan is awaited by Muslims worldwide, including in Brunei Darussalam. Mosques, suraus and religious halls across the country were further glorified with Sunat Tarawikh Prayer. The Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital was among the main focus for the congregants in Brunei Muara District.
Muslims are encouraged to perform the prayer due to the great rewards and blessings during Ramadhan and the benefits that are not found in other commendable prayers. Performing the Tarawikh prayer is Sunat muakkadah, which is a highly commendable act for Muslims to perform during the night in Ramadhan. It can be performed individually or in congregation.
Meanwhile in the Belait District, the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque was the focal point for residents to gather for Sunat Tarawikh prayer. All mosques, suraus and religious halls in the district were echoed with the reading of Tadarus Al-Quran, marking the start of Ramadhan.
The Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Tutong Town was among the focus for congregants in the district. The mass sunat Tarawikh Prayer were led by a student from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute. The sunat Tarawikh Prayer are hoped to further glorify the holy month and at the same time, propagate the Islamic Syiar or eminence.
While residents in Temburong District gathered at the Mohammad Salleh Main Mosque, Bangar Town in further glorifying Ramadhan by performing sunat tarawikh prayer. Apart from that, Tadarus Al-Quran ceremony are among the religious activities lined during this holy month. Such a ceremony aims to bring one closer to the Allah S.W.T and foster close relations among local residents.
