An integral feature of the fasting month of Ramadhan is the nightly sunat Tarawih prayers. For some years now, Brunei Darussalam has benefited from the services of many local youth appointed as Tarawih Imam or prayer leaders at the country's mosques, surau and prayer halls. Yesterday morning, the Mosque Affairs Department with the cooperation of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute held the Presentation of Letters of Appointment To Tarawih Prayer Leaders and Supervisor of Tarawih Prayer Leaders.
The Letters of Appointment were presented by Awang Haji Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This year, 102 people comprising lecturers, teaching staff, students and graduates of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute as well as students of the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA have been appointed as the Imam or prayer leaders of Sunat Tarawih prayer at 62 mosques, surau and religious halls. The presentation of Letters of Appointment also took place for 12 Supervisors of Tarawih Prayer Leaders comprising teaching staff of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute.
