Yesterday afternoon, Her Excellency Halimah Yacob, the President of the Republic of Singapore and spouse, Mr. Mohamed bin Abdullah Alhabshee; and delegation visited the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces in Kampong Tanah Jambu.

Upon arrival, Her Excellency was greeted by the Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Second Minister of Defence; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, the Minister of Education as Minister-In-Attendance; His Excellency Haji Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Mansor, Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to the Republic of Singapore AND Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud; Commander of the RBAF.

Shortly after arriving, Her Excellency was accorded with a Guard of Honour comprising of personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Force.

The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in his remarks highlighted the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He said, for several decades now, Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore have shared a strong personal friendship and professional cooperation based on mutual respect and trust for one another, and this has served as a solid foundation of the special relationship that both countries continue to see today.

The President of the Republic of Singapore accompanied by top officials and members of the Parliament were also been given a briefing on the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.

Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore share unique arrangements from extensive defence interaction, including mutual visits, policy level meetings and military exchanges, exercises and courses between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Singapore Armed Forces.
