The monitoring of Al-Quran reading for the 72-times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony for Mukim and Village Consultative Council members and Students nationwide in conjunction with the 72nd birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam took place in the four districts yesterday afternoon. The ceremony is intended to seek Allah the Almighty's blessing for His Majesty's long life, health and continued reign as the ruler of Brunei Darussalam with enlightenment and guidance from Allah the Almighty.

Present at the Kampung Pandan National Housing Scheme mosque was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, member of the Legislative Council; Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Haji Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In the Brunei Muara district, the ceremony was participated by 702 people comprising Mukim and Village Consultative Council members and Students under the Ministry of Education. Among those taking part was His Majesty's grandson, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Abdul Hafeez bin Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil. Present to oversee the observation for Al-Quran reading was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Meanwhile at the Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel Mosque in Kiudang, Tutong, 432 participants comprising Mukim and Village Consultative Council members took part in the ceremony. Present was Awang Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, members of the Legislative Council and Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam, Acting Tutong District Officer.

Meanwhile, 182 residents from the Temburong district took part in a similar ceremony. Present to oversee the monitoring of Al-Quran reading at the Muhammad Salleh Main Mosque in Bangar Town was Doctor Awang Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education. Also in attendance was Awang Mohammad Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud, Temburong District Officer.
