The Islamic Dakwah Centre through the New Converts Development Division continues to support whatever activities carried out by new converts associations nationwide. This, according to the Acting Director of Islamic Dakwah Centre, shows the care and attention from the Ministry of Religious Affairs in providing assistance through proper channels and ensure their welfare are not neglected, whether they live in urban, rural or the interiors. Awang Haji Abd Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh stated the matter during an Agreement Signing Ceremony for Providing Assistance between the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB and the Tutong District New Converts Association, PESATU, yesterday morning.
Awang Haji Abd Rajid expressed hope that the construction of the PESATU building will enable the association to move forward more comfortably in terms of utilising programmes and activities for use by the surrounding communities and also help with strengthening the association's economy.
Present was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs who is also a member of MUIB, as a representative of the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, who is also the Vice President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council. Signing on behalf of MUIB was Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, the Acting Secretary of MUIB, while PESATU was represented by Awang Haji Hasbie Azrol bin Abdullah Liat, President of PESATU. The ceremony coincided with the exchange of Agreement Documents between the Islamic Legal Unit and PESATU. Also in attendance were members of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, Penghulu of Mukim Tanjong Maya and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Penghulu of Mukim Telisai, as well as Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam, Acting Tutong District Officer.
Under the agreement, the Brunei Islamic Religious Council will provide financial assistance to fund part of the PESATU Hall Extension Development Project under MUIB's General Administration Collection Fund. The project will be built near the PESATU building in Kampong Lubuk Pulau Tutong, which the President of PESATU said will be used for various functions.
