Strengthening the Malay Language in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia Language Council, MABBIM member nations is not an easy matter. It is a continuous struggle with various creative initiatives, solely for attracting society's interest. Dayang Hajah Sariani binti Haji Ishak,Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau said this at the MABBIM Language Seminar Closing Ceremony. It was held at Parkview Hotel in Jerudong.

Present was Awang Haji Abdoh bin Haji Damit, Acting Director of Culture and Arts, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Dayang Hajah Sariani in her welcoming speech also explained that it is undeniable that other world languages also play a vital role, but the Malay language must not be made as a second class language. She added, the belief towards the importance of the Malay Language in this life does not narrow ideologies or the understanding of its users even in the ever developing world.

The function ran concurrently with the handing over of the seminar resolution to Awang Haji Abdoh bin Haji Damit, followed by the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to working paper presenters and participants. The language seminar was in conjunction with the 57th MABBIM Executive Seminar which takes place tomorrow.
