More than 140 cases of traffic offences, 6 customs offences and 1 Narcotics Control Bureau case were reported in the 6-day 'Operasi Sepadu' or Joint Operation. Last night, a total of 89 cases have been recorded during the 'Operasi Sepadu' was conducted at several main roads in the country.
The operation involving 4 law enforcement agencies namely the Royal Brunei Police Force Traffic Control and Investigation Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, Royal Customs and Excise Department and Land Transport Department, targeted roadblocks at the Hassanal Bolkiah Highway towards the Brunei International Airport in Berakas, towards Bandar Seri Begawan and the flyover to the Government Department Complex. The roadblocks were also set up at the Jerudong Highway, Rimba Highway and Jalan Kiulap. Same operations were also carried out in three other districts.
The operation was led by the Assistant Superintendent of Police Pengiran Omar Ali bin Pengiran Manshor, Head of the Enforcement Unit as the Acting Head of Operations and Enforcement Section, Traffic Control and Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force starting from 9.30 in the evening and ending at 2.30 in the morning. It aimed to increase the awareness of road users towards road safety and the importance of obeying the traffic act and rules in the country.
