The National Service Programme, PKBN will continue to be a unique programme that provides beneficial knowledge, awareness and exposure to youths in preparing them to give their sincere services and undivided loyalty to religion, the Monarch, the country and nation. Speaking at the launch of the 7th PKBN Intake, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports said, as agents of national reforms and development, the youths must accept the reality that they have a vital role in further generating or activating the tide of national development.
In his speech, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof also stressed that youths should realise they are a vital group in the country's development and achievements. The Minister added the PKBN trainees could become good leaders to their peers, reminding them that Islam itself advocates leading people towards good and wellbeing. The 379 trainees of the 7th PKBN Intake include 118 girls who will undergo almost one hundred days of training at the PKBN Training Camp in Kampung Batu Apoi in the Temburong District.
Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, Member of the Legislative Council and Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The National Service Programme, PKBN is a strategic national programme under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Its goal is to produce a generation of spiritually and physically strong youths with excellent attributes such as effective leadership, strong solidarity and patriotism. The programme was designed to produce youth who know their true 'identity, strong personality, as well as active and outstanding in entrepreneurship, the creative industry. The training also strives to create youths who are willing to serve the nation voluntarily.
