In an effort to enhance awareness and preparedness by providing information on the nature of earthquakes, a 'Talk on Tremor Preparedness was held by the National Disaster Management Centre NDMC in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department, Public Works Department and the Ministry of Health's Emergency Management Ambulance Services. By understanding the nature of associated risks, certain relevant agencies will be able to develop an action plan to mitigate the impact and be more prepared for future events as well as ensure safety and well-being. This was mentioned by Retired Colonel Pengiran Haji Maidin bin Pengiran Haji Said, Director of the NDMC during the talk, yesterday at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the program, participants were briefed on the NDMC background as well as on Felt Earthquakes in Brunei Darussalam by Geotechnical and Geological Section, Public Works Department and the Tremor Emergency Plan for High Rise Buildings by the Fire and Rescue Department and the Emergency Management Ambulance Services. The talk was attended by Health, Safety, Security and Environment Managers and individuals who are responsible for looking after respective emergency plans; and has had first-hand experience on the impact of earthquakes in the neighbouring countries.
