His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab-Rahaman last night attended the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Saint Andrew's School. The celebration was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Upon arrival, Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by Mr Stephen Ong, The Chairman of Saint Andrew's School Board of Governors and other members Board of Governors.
Mr Stephen Ong in his welcoming speech share his gratitude to the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam particularly to the Ministry of Education for their steadfast support and guidance, in the running and development of Saint Andrew's School.
Their Royal Highnesses were then cut the cake and also received a Pasambah. Their Royal Highnesses were then watched a video clip on the history and achievement by the school. His Royal Highness had his primary education at Saint Andrew's School from 1979 until 1985. While, Her Royal Highness also attended the school from 1992 to 1998.
In the ceremony, one of the alumni representatives presented a speech of appreciation to receive education in Saint Andrew's School. The ceremony was graced with the dance and song performances by the students. The School's Vision is about Impacting and transforming lives, contributing positively to society. And their Mission is to promote quality holistic education with diverse learning opportunities for students to enable them to reach their full potential with pursuit of excellence.
Saint Andrew's School was established on January 1956, and started from humble beginnings with only 70 students, 3 teachers and a minute area of learning. At that time, the school could only cater for the lower learning classes to the highest being primary four.
Their Royal Highnesses also visited the Exhibition Booths. In 1995, Saint Andrew's school has introduced computer studies to the students. Followed by a Mandarin Club in 2000. At present, Saint Andrew's School has fully grown to a fully equipped institution of learning which can accommodate up to 1,600 students. The school will continue its role in the country with a commitment to excellence in education for the school children in the country.
