His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, in a sabda, stresses that the true practice of Islamic Finance as upheld by the fundamental tenets of Syariah, will continue to resonate with the global call for building a stable Islamic financial system worldwide. His Royal Highness also called on Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam as well as relevant government and non-government agencies to continue their close collaboration in realising His Majesty's vision to realise the country's vision in becoming a world renowned Islamic Financial Hub. His Royal Highness made the sabda on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Brunei Darussalam Islamic Investment Summit yesterday. The event took place at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, Jerudong.
Upon arrival at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, His Royal Highness were greeted by the Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, who is also the Deputy Chairman of AMBD's Board of Directors, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance; Awang Yusof bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of AMBD and other members of AMBD's Board of Directors, as well as members of BIIS 2017 organising committee.
The function commenced with the reading of Al-Qur'an by Awangku Muhammad Adibul Amin bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, the 1st runners-up in the men's categories of the 59th International Al-Qur'an.
In his welcoming address, the Minister of Home Affairs, said that this summit provides an important platform for the sharing of experience, knowledge and views on the current challenges in Islamic Finance with special focus on its globalisation and future direction.
In the sabda, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, emphasized that true globalisation of Islamic Finance requires collaboration among regulatory and supervisory authorities and harmonisation of international standards.
His Royal Highness, in his sabda also expressed pride that all these developments are in line with the aspirations of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to realise the country's vision in becoming a world renowned Islamic Financial Hub.
His Royal Highness then received a Pesambah. Sheikh Esam M Ishaq, member of the High Council of Islamic Affairs, Government of Bahrain, delivered a keynote address titled: 'Sukuk-Traditional and Innovative Strategies'.
The two-day summit hosted by the Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management, CIBFM with the support of AMBD, attended by about 200 participants from the Ministries and government agencies, Financial industry and private sectors. With its theme 'Globalisation of Islamic Finance: The Road Ahead', the objective of the summit is to provide a useful platform for leaders, scholars and experts to share their knowledge and experience as well as to exchange views current issues in Islamic Finance with special focus on globalisation of the Islamic Financial Industry.
Doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.
