By command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, it is hereby announced that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the promotion and appointment of the following senior officers: Yang Mulia Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Vision, Finance and Cabinet at the Prime Minister's Office has been promoted and appointed as the Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Governance at the Prime Minister's Office, and Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Mohammed Taib, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Security, Enforcement and Law at the Prime Minister's Office has been promoted and appointed as the Permanent Secretary for Security and Law at the Prime Minister's Office.

The date of promotion and appointment of the said senior officers is effective from Wednesday, 19th of Muharram 1444, corresponding to 17th of August, 2022.

Brunei Recorded Daily Average Of 420 COVID-19 Cases In Past Week

Brunei logged a daily average of 420 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, the country’s Health Ministry said, yesterday.

According to the ministry’s weekly briefing, 62,348 antigen rapid test (ART) results were uploaded to the government platform within one week, with 4.7 percent of them being positive.

Currently, no hospitalised cases are held in intensive care unit, but two cases require assisted breathing, according to the ministry.

As of Aug 14, 76.1 percent of Brunei’s population have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while 8.5 percent have taken the fourth dose.

COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and China’s Sinopharm are administered in the country.

UNISSA’s Career Carnival

Various activities have been lined up to enliven UNISSA's 12th Mahrajan Haflut Takharruj such as the UNISSA Career Carnival, Master of Ceremonies Workshop and blood donation campaign. The activities are taking place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

The Career Carnival is participated by 23 agencies from the government and private sectors. The 3-day event acts as a platform to disseminate information on the working world apart from providing motivation and job counselling. It is open from 8 in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon.

Also held is the Master of Ceremonies workshop. Apart from polishing the participant's skills, the workshop also aims to diversify branches of interest, and contribute towards the development of a creative and sustainable human capital.

Meanwhile, 69 pints of blood were collected at a blood donation campaign organised by the Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Logistics Unit of UNISSA Student Representative Council, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital. Members of the public are welcomed to donate blood tomorrow from 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon.

Talk In Conjunction with Hijrah New Year Celebration

Among the lessons that can be learned from the event of Rasullullah Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam's Hijrah or migration is the importance of training oneself with patience in all matters. The matter was touched upon in a religious talk titled "Hijrah membawa hikmah" or Hijrah Brings Wisdom, which was held in conjunction with the Hijrah New Year Celebration. Organised by the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Takmir Committee, Tutong Town, the talk was held last night at the mosque.

The talk also touched on Planning and Strategy in carrying out any matter accompanied by doa or supplication, efforts and tawakkal to achieve success. The ceremony ran concurrently with the presentation of appointment letters to the Mosque Takmir Committee for the 2021 to 2023 session by Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali, Acting Assistant Director of Mosque Affairs.

Excellent Student Award Ceremony

82 Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School students were feted in a 5A PSR Excellent Student Award Ceremony 2021, yesterday morning. The ceremony to appreciate the students' efforts in achieving excellence in learning was held at the school.

Certificates were presented by Awang Ahmad Jefri bin Abdul Rahman, Assistant Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency, BIA. The awards are hoped to inspire students and school staff to continue to strive in achieving progress and success in the field of education, in line with the objectives of Wawasan Negara 2035.

Scholarship Award Ceremony

48 students were awarded the Government of His Majesty's Overseas Scholarship to pursue their Bachelor's Degree abroad, and 32 students were awarded the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD Medicine and Dentistry Scholarship Scheme with Partner Medical and Dental Schools abroad. Meanwhile, the Special Scheme Scholarship was awarded to 21 students to pursue Secondary level, and 18 others to pursue Pre-University level. Yesterday afternoon, the Ministry of Education through the Department of Scholarship Management held the scholarship award ceremony at Dewan An-Naura, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.

The awards were presented by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education. Awang Julaihi bin Mohamat, Special Duties Officer at the Department of Scholarship Management explained the student selection process does not only solely focus on the student's academic achievement, but also through strict and fair selection.

Earlier, an Agreement Signing Ceremony for His Majesty's Government Scholarship Overseas for First Degree, and the Medicine and Dentistry Scholarship Scheme with Partner Medical and Dental School for the 2022/2023 academic session was held. The signing was witnessed by Doctor Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education.

UNISSA’s 12th Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj

His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as Pro-Chancellor of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA, yesterday morning officiated UNISSA's 12th Mahrajan Haflut Takharruj or Convocation Festival. The Mahrajan Haflut Takharruj was held to further enliven the UNISSA Convocation Ceremony.

Upon arrival at the International Convention Centre, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education as Chairman of the UNISSA Council.

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and doa was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

His Royal Highness officiated UNISSA's 12th Mahrajan Haflut Al-Takharruj.

The Crown Prince then signed the UNISSA 12th Mahrajan Haflut Al-Takharruj inauguration plaque and viewed the exhibition gallery with the theme 'Teknologi Islam Memacu Pembangunan Ummah' or Islamic Technology Drives Ummah Development.

Among those exhibited was the UNISSA Mushaf Application Project under the UNISSA Digital Mushaf Project

His Royal Highness also launched 28 new books published by UNISSA and Open Journal Systems, OJS.

His Royal Highness proceeded to mingle with the excellence graduates and new institution's academic staff.

His Royal Highness received a pasambah in the form of underwater remote operated vehicle, U-ROV. Throughout the Mahrajan Haflut Takharruj, various activities are held until this Thursday from 8 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon.
