New huNOG-EXL EA Model Extends Study Windows Significantly

RENSSELAER, N.Y., Jan. 18, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Taconic Biosciences, a global leader in providing drug discovery animal model solutions, announces the launch of the huNOG-EXL EA (Early Access) humanized immune system (HIS) mouse. This product expands Taconic’s widely used HIS portfolio. huNOG-EXL EA significantly lengthens the study window during which a myeloid-lineage HIS mouse model can be used successfully.

Taconic’s huNOG-EXL models support human myeloid and lymphoid cells, making these mice especially useful for immuno-oncology research and other immune-related applications. With the longest lifespan of any myeloid-supportive HIS model, the original huNOG-EXL model (now called huNOG-EXL SA, or Standard Access) has been successfully applied in preclinical drug discovery research since 2016. The huNOG-EXL SA model is provided after a quality control step at 10 weeks post-engraftment. Feedback from users suggests research applications requiring particularly long study timelines or importation into regions with long quarantine periods present experimental and logistical hurdles that can limit the utility of the Standard Access (SA) model.

The new huNOG-EXL EA model removes those challenges by providing access to huNOG-EXL mice soon after engraftment, extending the useful study window. This makes the huNOG-EXL EA ideal for engraftment of slow-growing tumors, longer treatment paradigms, or various study customizations. Early access to an extended myeloid lineage model is also advantageous to researchers who face model importation quarantines, which would otherwise consume a significant portion of the useful study window for these mice. Because the huNOG-EXL EA model is shipped before an engraftment QC step is possible, it is made using cells from donors previously validated to engraft well so as to reduce the risk of engraftment failures.

56 New COVID-19 Cases

56 new COVID-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking the country’s total COVID-19 cases to 15,957.

 

The Ministry of Health in its press release stated that out of the new cases, 41 are local while 15 others are imported cases. 3,407 lab tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, with the rate of positive cases at 1.6 percent.

 

Meanwhile, there are 383 active cases after 20 cases recovered, bringing total recovered cases to 15,472. The bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is 9.2 percent.

 

As of 17th January 2022, 94.7 percent of the total population have received at least one dose of the vaccine, 93.8 percent with 2 doses, and 34 percent have received 3 doses of the vaccine.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji  Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah graced the ‘Majlis Istiadat  Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ which took place at the Balai Persantapan, Istana Nurul Iman.

 

The ‘Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ delegation led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja arrived at Istana Nurul Iman. The ‘Tanda Diraja’ was handed over to Pengarah Awang Jaini, while the ‘Pertunangan Diraja’ was handed over to Pengarah Awang Haji Kilali and Pengarah Awang Haji Brahim @ Momin. This was followed by 17 cannon shots to mark that the ‘Tanda Diraja’ and ‘Pertunangan Diraja’ have been received.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib then informed His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik that the ‘Majlis Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ was ready to proceed.

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik in a sabda instructed for the ceremony to commence.

 

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja entered and sat in the middle of the hall, followed by the ‘Tanda Diraja’ and ‘Pertunangan Diraja’.

 

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja then presented to His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, the ‘Tanda Diraja’ and Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan as well as the ‘Pertunangan Diraja’.

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik accepted the ‘Tanda Diraja’ and ‘Pertunangan Diraja’.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan seeked an audience with His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik. His Royal Highness in a sabda instructed Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan to present the dowry and bridal gifts to His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan acknowledged His Royal Highness’ sabda.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan seeked permission to leave the hall and proceeded to the Dewan Resepsi, Istana Nurul Iman together with the ‘Tanda Diraja’ and ‘Pertunangan Diraja’.

 

His Royal Highness then proceeded to a Special Room accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib.

 

The ‘Tanda Diraja’ was then seated at the Dewan Resepsi and the Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan placed in the middle of the function hall. The Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan was then carried and placed in front of Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Manteri Bini to be witnessed by the Head of the Ceremony, Pengiran Empat from the royal bride’s side as well as by those attending and then transferred to other gangsa.

 

This was followed by the ‘Pertunangan Diraja’ seated at the Dewan Resepsi and the Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan placed in the middle of the function hall. The Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan was then carried and placed in front of Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Manteri Bini to be witnessed by the Head of the Ceremony, Pengiran Empat from the royal bride’s side as well as by those attending and then transferred to other gangsa.

 

Followed by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Manteri Bini as well as the Dayang-Dayang carrying the Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan to be presented to His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri.

 

The ceremony was followed by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik proceeding to the Balai Persantapan.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan followed by the Awang-Awang carrying the Gangsa-Gangsa which have been transferred re-entered the Balai Persantapan followed by the Dian ENAM BELAS and seated in the middle of the function hall.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan seeked an audience and duly informed His Royal Highness that the dowry and bridal gifts have been presented to His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri.

 

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, the State Mufti.

 

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja then seeked His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik’s grace to leave the hall.

 

After being given approval, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja left the hall followed by other members of the delegation. The ‘Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ delegation then departed from Istana Nurul Iman.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib that the ‘Majlis Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ has been duly carried out.

 

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib then informed likewise to His Royal Highness.

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik in a sabda gave approval for the ceremony to be brought to a close.

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik then departed the ceremony. Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteri, Manteri-Manteri Hulubalang and Manteri-Manteri Pedalaman, Heads of Missions, Permanent Secretaries and heads of Departments.

‘Majlis Istiadat Menghantar Tanda Diraja Dan Pertunangan Diraja’

The ‘Majlis Istiadat Menghantar dan Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ or Giving and Receiving of Dowry Ceremony and Engagement Ceremony for the Royal Wedding Ceremony took place yesterday afternoon. The Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja were presented in the presence of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam. The Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja are for the Royal Wedding Ceremony between His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah and Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi.

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, attended the Majlis Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja at Istana Nurul Iman. His Royal Highness was the representative commanded to preside over the ‘Majlis Menerima Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’.

 

The ceremony began with the Majlis Istiadat Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja, at Darussidiq, Jerudong. His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, who is presiding over the Royal Wedding on the royal bridegroom’s side attended the ceremony. The arrival of His Royal Highness was preceded by the Hulubalang Diraja carrying the Pemuras and Karga or Musket and Bullet bag, as well as the Hulubalang Asgar carrying the Kelasak and Kampilan or Machete and Long Shield, accompanied by the bearers of the Alat-Alat Perhiasan Empat.

 

His Royal Highness was welcomed by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila  Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim, Yang Amat  Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Retired Major General Pengiran  Haji Ibnu Basit, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Ratna Wijaya Retired Brigadier General Pengiran Haji Hasnan,  and Yang Mulia Awang  Nabil Mahmoud Abdulkadir Al-Hashimi. His Royal Highness then proceeded to a Designated Room.

 

At the Dewan Cempaka, Darussidiq, the ceremony commenced with Yang DiMuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Mohd Jaafar  informing Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja  Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim that the Majlis  Istiadat Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja was ready.

 

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad instructed Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan to inform His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen that the proceedings were ready to commence.

 

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan seeked an audience with His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

 

His Royal Highness in a sabda instructed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Retired Major General Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit to head the ‘Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ delegation. Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan, then duly informed the acknowledged sabda to Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad.

 

Yang Amat Mulia Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad instructed for the ceremony to proceed. Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad then in a sabda instructed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja to head the ‘Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ delegation to Istana Nurul Iman.

 

The ‘Menghantar Tanda Diraja dan Pertunangan Diraja’ delegation left for Istana Nurul Iman.

 

The ‘Tanda Diraja’ comprise a girl dressed in traditional attire wearing a ‘Gelang Pengaluan or Bracelet’ ‘ Gelang Geronchong or Anklet’ ,  Subang or earrings and Bunga Serondoh, led by Pengarah Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, accompanied by a youngster and Pengiran Empat. Followed by Awang-Awang carrying the Gangsa-Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan filled with a set of clothing, a pair of bracelets, a pair of earrings and a pair of rings. The ‘Pertunangan Diraja’ comprise a girl dressed in a ‘baju kurung’ or traditional attire, wearing a Gelang Pengaluan,  Gelang Geronchong, Kanching, Puntu Azimat,  with a Jamang on the head and panding,  led by Pengarah Awang Haji Abdullah Sunny, and accompanied by a boy tasked as the ‘pemutus Tali Jintong’ in complete traditional attire led by Pengarah Awang Haji Abdullah  and in turn accompanied by a youngster,  a Pengiran Perempuan  Berbaju Gadong or Pengiran Dressed in Green as well as a Dayang- Dayang carrying the Kaskol Langguai. This was followed by Awang-Awang carrying the Gangsa or Tray containing the Surat Mahar or Dowry Letter or Berian or Bridal Gift and the Gangsa- Gangsa Ganti-Gantian comprising a set of clothing, a pair of bracelets, a pair of earrings, a pair of rings, Ceramai, Kelakati and Pisau, Dian Enam Belas carried by 16 Awang-Awang, and 40 Janar placed on the shoulders of 40 Awang-Awang as well as Awang-Awang carrying the Royal Regalia.

Brunei Logs 20 New COVID-19 Cases

– Brunei reported 20 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the total tally to 15,901.

According to Brunei’s Ministry of Health, the newly recorded cases included 15 local infections and five imported cases.

As of Jan 16, 94.7 percent of Brunei’s population have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 93.8 percent have completed their vaccination schedule of two doses, and 33.1 percent have received a third dose.

A total of 347 active cases are currently being treated and monitored in Brunei, and 102 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded in the country.
