UBD Football Championship 2021

 

Laksamana College of Business, LCB’s hope of earning 3 full points was quashed after being tied in a draw with the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA in a Group B match in UBD Sports Complex.

 

LCB netted the opening goal in the 49th minute through Mohd Nazhan Zulkiflie, but was equalised by UNISSA 8 minutes later by Mohd Adib Suimi. LCB gained the upper hand with another goal in the 59th minute through Mohd Nazhan Zulkiflie but UNISSA equalised once again through Mohd Fayyadh Haji Rosley in the 71st minute, and the result 2-all remained until the final whistle.

C.H.S.K Badminton Cup 2021

200 badminton players representing 13 teams participated in the C.H.S.K Badminton Cup 2021 organised by Chung Hwa School Kiudang, Tutong District. The tournament was held yesterday morning at the school’s multi-purpose hall.

 

It was officiated by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, a Member of the Legislative Council. Using the round robin format, three categories are competed in the cup namely Students Cup, Veterans Cup and Organisations Cup. A number of categories were competed in the morning namely mixed doubles 19 and above, mixed men and women for under 18 as well as veteran’s mixed doubles. The 4-week tournament will be held until the 25th of this month.

PENJURU Charity Run 2021

 

In conjunction with the World Nurses and Midwives Day, the Brunei Darussalam Nurses Association, PENJURU held the PENJURU Charity Run 2021. Yesterday morning’s run was held at Health Promotion Centre in Berakas.

 

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji AWANG Mohd Isham Bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. Two categories were competed namely the Virtual Run and 10- kilometre Charity Run.

 

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health also led the 1.3 kilometre walkathon. The event continued with presentation of certificates to sponsors and winners of both categories. The run among others aimed to collect fund for PENJURU fund and to encultured solidarity and healthy activities.

Brunei Darussalam Golf Association Tournament

 

The 3-day Brunei Darussalam Golf Association, BDGA Tournament closed the curtain yesterday afternoon with prize presentation. It took place at Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club, Jerudong.

 

Almost 250 golfers participated in the tournament. Among those presenting the prizes was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. Also held was presentation of 15 thousand dollar donation for the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund 2021 from Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Hakeem ibni His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, President of BDGA to Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Awang Johari, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as Co-Chair of the National Executive Committee of the fund.

‘Operasi Bersepadu’

A number of offences were recorded during a joint operation conducted in Kampuns Sabun, Muara including drug abuse, possession of cigarettes and alcoholic drinks as well as improper rubbish disposal.

 

The operation was conducted by the Brunei Muara District Office through the Licensing and Enforcement Division together with enforcement agencies from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Royal Customs and Excise Department and the Department of Immigration and National Registration. The Narcotics Control Bureau apprehended 3 foreigners aged, between 30 to 50, under the suspicion of being involved in drug abuse activities. The three men are investigated under Section 6B of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27 for the consumption of controlled drugs, and Section 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27 for the possession of items believed to be drug paraphernalia.

 

Meanwhile, 4 other foreigners were detained by the Royal Customs and Excise Department for possessing cigarettes and alcohols without permit. All of the contraband were seized and actions were taken for each individual under the Excise Order 2006.

 

12 foreigners from the Philippines including 4 women were also inspected by the Department of Immigration and National Registration during the said operation.

 

The Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Brunei Muara District Office issued compound fines to 7 individuals for improper rubbish disposal, an offence under the Minor Offences Act, and gave 7 days to settle the fine.

Weekend Market

The Weekend Market Programme ‘Pasar Kitani’ acts as an alternative platform to increase agricultural produce. Themed ‘Hasil Segar Peladang Kitani’ or Our Farmers’ Fresh Produce, the market also extend the marketing network as well as an alternative for direct sale during weekend. The weekend market is held every Sundays at Concourse area, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

 

Apart from promoting farm produce such as vegetables, local fruits, livestock products and agrifood product, the Pasar Kitani also provide the local farmers or entrepreneurs to interact among them on the produce, company and information sharing on farming methods. The sales booth comprised of fresh vegetables, fruits, chicken eggs, duck eggs, Quail and salted eggs. The sales booth for processed local food namely coconut juice, fruit juice, pickled fruit and vegetable were also available. The public are welcomed to visit the ‘Pasar Kitani’ held every Sunday from 6 to 11 in the morning.

Brunei Netball League 2021

Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah binti His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah competed in the Brunei Netball League 2021. Organised by the Brunei Netball Association, BNA, the tournament featured 6 teams and the match took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

 

Her Royal Highness leads the Falcons in the netball league. In the match, the Falcons beat Hydra 50-27.

 

In other matches, Hokage Warriors won 50-35 over Roses, while Thundernets beat Stingers 42-39.

Greece exempts nationals of Azerbaijan from entry restrictions

Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Friday added five countries to the list of countries whose citizens are exempted from entry restrictions to Greece, Trend reports citing Greek City Times.

CAA’s current entry-ban notam was also extended to Thursday July 8.

Permanent residents of the European Union and the Schengen area are exempted from this notam, as are citizens of the following countries: Albania, Australia, Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, China, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Montenegro, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America. The five newest additions include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Jordan, Moldova and Brunei.

All persons arriving in Greece from these countries must either have a certificate (in English) issued by the relevant authority in their country of departure that they have completed coronavirus vaccination at least 14 days before arrival. Alternatively, they can also provide a negative result of a PCR test for Covid-19 done in the last 72 hours before arrival, or a negative rapid test done up to 48 hours ahead of arrival to Greece.

The current notam came into effect on May 14.
